Day 01
Pingyao Arrival -Pingyao Ancient Town
Take train to Pingyao , pick up by your driver and guide,transfer to hotel for check in , after a short break start the sightseeing :
Hanging around in China's best preserved ancient walled town — Pingyao Ancient Town , be ready to experience the shock of the rich culture.
The Rishengchang Former Bank is the site of the first draft bank in China. Your tour guide will explain how the bank operated, and it will be interesting to see what banking used to be like 150 years ago.
Under the environment of social unrest in the poor Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), the protection of the tangible currency was extremely important; therefore, escort companies appeared. Pingyao was the birthplace of Xing Yi Quan (shape and impression boxing, which is a kind of Chinese kung fu). The Armed Escort Company Museum shows how this special business was formed and how it was run, and also introduces the top 10 escort companies and top 10 guards — they were all kung fu masters.
Shop around Ming-Qing Street — the Wall Street of China
South Street, also known as 'Ming-and-Qing-Dynasties Ancient Street', is the central axis of Pingyao Ancient City. During the Ming and Qing dynasties (1367–1912), South Street controlled more than half of the financial institutions in China and was known as the 'China's Wall Street' of that period. Now it is still the most prosperous place in Pingyao.
After seeing the highlights of the ancient town, it is great to go up high and have a view of the roofs of the ancient buildings. You will go up to the Ancient City Wall at dusk, and have a glimpse of the town before darkness arrives.
After the sightseeing , have some free time yourself and hanging around in the town and experience the local life

Today’s sightseeing :
- Wang's courtyard, about 35 km (22 miles) from Pingyao Town, was built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and its prominence lasted for more than 300 years. It includes five lanes, six castles, and one street, with a total area of 25 hectares (about 10 city blocks). Wang's courtyard is a big medieval building complex and it is known as an architectural art museum with traditional cultural characteristics.
- Zhangbi Ancient Village (张壁古堡), also known as Zhangbi Ancient Castle, is an ancient multi-functional castle, integrating military, residential, productive and religious functions into a little-known small-scale locale.
- Lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant on the way
- Shuanglin Temple(10 min drive from the train station) , Shuanglin Temple houses more than 2,000 painted clay sculptures of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties (960–1912). They display China's fine tradition of painted clay sculptures with highly realistic detail that has been going since the Tang Dynasty (618–907). They are all rare treasures.
